What will happen if I don't get a permit for the work that generated the violation?

Code Enforcement strives to assist the property owner to obtain compliance. If permits are not obtained and the matter is corrected without a permit, an administrative citation may be issued under section 7.04.190 of the Municipal Code. A $100 fine shall be due and payable, with second and third citations for continued violations increasing incrementally thereafter.

Should you then fail to achieve compliance, the City will prosecute the issued Notice and Order and seek fines of up to $1000 per day, per violation, going back to the original violation date. If this is not paid, the City will attach a lien to the property, which may prevent you from selling the property or obtaining refinancing or title insurance on the property.
