The Southern Marin Neighborhood Response Group (NRG) Program is a grassroots volunteer-driven initiative designed to assist the residents of Southern Marin to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters by encouraging a Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors approach and by providing resources, guidance, training, and conducting periodic disaster drills. NRG members take responsibility to prepare themselves as best they can and to help each other as neighbors. Neighborhoods are divided into manageable divisions with teams of Block Captains taking responsibility for nearby households. This position coordinates this program for Mill Valley, Sausalito and Marin City, including unincorporated areas.
The Southern Marin NRG Coordinator’s primary role is to support existing NRGs and help build new ones in order to achieve an integrated and functioning network of NRGs throughout Southern Marin. The Southern Marin NRG Coordinator will also be promoting Emergency Preparedness which is the Foundation of the NRG Program Funding. This part-time position was made possible by the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority (MWPA).
Leah is a Commissioner on the City of Mill Valley’s Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC), Co-chair of the Southern Marin CERT Steering Committee, and a NRG Block Captain in her own neighborhood. We are so excited to have her on our community preparedness team. She will do a fantastic job serving the residents of Sausalito, Marin City, Homestead, Mill Valley, Tam Valley, Strawberry, Alto, Throckmorton Ridge and portions of Tiburon.
Welcome to the team, Leah! We are thrilled to have you onboard.
