Recording Booth Use Policy

  • Patrons need an active MARINet library card to use the recording booth and must be 16+ years old or have adult supervision to create a reservation.
  • Sessions are two hours with no extensions. Each patron may only book two sessions per month. Reservations are available 14 days into the future.
  • First-time users must complete an orientation with a staff member at the beginning of the session before using the booth.
  • The booth can be used by a maximum of two people at one time. This counts as one use for each user (i.e. the second user cannot book a subsequent session on the same day.)
  • Patrons may bring their own recording equipment (e.g. microphones, interfaces, laptops) but no instruments or amplifiers are allowed.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the booth.
  • While using the booth, patrons must abide by both the Network Policy and Patron Code of Conduct.
  • Patrons are responsible for saving their work to external media such as USB drives. Files will not be recoverable from the library computer after the session ends.
  • The booth must not be left unattended during sessions.
  • Staff will unlock the booth for your session and check equipment and lock up at your session’s end.
  • The Library cannot be responsible for lost data. Patrons are responsible for any damage to equipment.
  • The Mill Valley Public Library does not endorse and is not responsible for content created in the Recording Booth.
